The purpose of the Visitor pattern is to enable external object access to the internal workings of a class. This doesn t mean internal access to the data, rather a detailed understanding of how the class works. The Bridge pattern separates the intention from the implementation. A consumer will use the intention, which is represented by a base class or interface. The Visitor pattern says, Throw the Bridge pattern out the window, and the consumer will have a direct reference to the implementation. In this section, I give you a look at the theory behind the Visitor pattern, followed by advice for using this pattern in your code.

The Visitor pattern flies in the face of everything this book has said shouldn t be done. In particular, the Visitor pattern advises a Generic type to reference specific types. What this means is that an application that employs the Visitor pattern has a direct reference to the types that are part of the calling chain. This is useful in scenarios like persistence where it s necessary to know what the type is. Figure 8-2 illustrates the UML diagram of the Visitor pattern.

Once you have configured the options for your share point, click the Permissions tab. This will allow you to configure who has access to shared data. From here, the main change from Tiger Server is that the Users & Groups window is a floating window, with a new look and feel, but with the same overall feature set.
